In her second solo show at renowned Melbourne design destination, Modern Times, Elizabeth Barnett moves away from large interior settings to focus on beloved objects, botanical arrangements and personal book collections. As always, her subjects are familiar and close to home, capturing the significance and sentimentality of home life and routine.

Elizabeth works in an autumnal palette for Preservation, imbuing a sense of warmth and comfort – you can almost imagine her pouring you a cuppa on a cold day! ‘Self-preservation and herbal remedies are enduring sources of inspiration,’ Lizzie explains, ‘when taking a break from caring responsibilities I often find myself walking around my local neighbourhood, collecting handfuls of gum leaves, bound for arrangements in jars, an action I never questioned or pondered deeply until I started painting them’.

The exhibition comprises a whopping 19 new paintings from, featuring some of the largest works Lizzie has ever produced!
