The Social Outfit is a Sydney-based fashion label tackling an impressive number of social issues, all at once. Founded in 2014, the Ethical Australia-accredited label empowers refugee communities by providing employment and education, fostering an invaluable sense of inclusion and community. They also partner with major Australian fashion players like Romance Was Born and Carla Zampatti to repurpose excess and unused textiles, otherwise headed to landfill, to create their seasonal collections.

Becoming a staple in the Newtown community over the last four years, The Social Outfit has recently opened the doors to a seriously impressive new retail space to showcase their wares. Teaming up with acclaimed interior designer Nina Maya, this new store-front and manufacturing space reflects the brand ethos by prioritising sustainability without compromising design.

‘The concept behind the fit out was to create a soft, neutral background in which The Social Outfit’s collections could shine season after season,’ explains Nina.

The spectacular stone floor was made using marble offcuts of marble and exotic stones donated by marble supplier Granite Marble Works, while the cylindrical pillars used as a feature display piece are converted cardboard fabric rolls. Genius!
