Local specialist publishers Uro Publications have been producing design and architecture books from their Collingwood headquarters since 2009. Now, they have a shopfront!
Bookshop by Uro is tucked behind a courtyard garden off Johnston Street in the historic Collingwood Yards building (formerly the Collingwood Arts Precinct). With a focus on Australian design and architecture titles, the independent publisher have been operating their retail presence solely online for the last two years.
The newly completed shopfront was designed by legendary local firm Architecture Architecture, who fitted the interiors with gum joinery and a communal bench seat for resting browsers. The warm, inviting space is located just next door to Tantri Mustika’s new studio and store, and once public health restrictions lift, Bookshop by Uro plans to host a regular program of cultural events, exhibitions and public talks.
Such a welcome addition to the neighbourhood!
