Following the success of her previous exhibition ‘Beneath the Surface’, Victorian-based photographer Nikole Ramsay takes to the skies in her latest exhibition ‘PATTERN-ity’.

Inspired by her studies in yoga philosophy, namely samskaras (subtle mental recollections and psychological imprints, which colour one’s thoughts and actions), Nikole explores connection to landscape as a reflection of individual patterns and impressions.

This photography collection asks us to consider the landscape as a mirror, rather than as something separate to ourselves. Nikole brings to light the intersection of environmental and emotional rhythms, and our place within the larger systems we live in.

‘Viewed from above, lakes and rivers become an interconnected system of veins, scars, and traces shaped by movement of water over time,’ Nikole says.

‘These aerial perspectives invite us to pause, step back and recognise the relationships that are often hidden when we are immersed within them.’

‘Over time, both water and our own experiences carve pathways, leaving imprints that influence what follows.’

‘PATTERN-ity’ opens at Lon Retreat in Point Lonsdale, from Friday September 11. Find out more here and shop the pieces as art prints here
