Charlotte Alldis’s practice has been growing steadily for years now, but there’s nothing like a worldwide pandemic and months-long lockdowns to really kick your creative pursuit into a 24/7 career.

Now a full-time artist while she embarks on a year-long residency at Dunmoochin, Charlotte brings us her latest body of work in a new exhibition at No Vacancy gallery.

Twin Flame’ explores the complex dynamics between people who love and care, and how intimacy can lead to both stimulation and healing. Though not immediately obvious, each piece is made as part of a pair, with threads of dialogue running between canvases that might not seem connected in any other visual way.

Toeing the line between abstract and figurative, her wide-eyed and curious characters have grown from naive and bashful to familiar and comforting, totally at ease in their technicolour surrounds. The lines and movement of each composition are smooth, creating seamlessly balanced scenes that glide flawlessly from one into the other.
