To celebrate the release of her latest cookbook, Julia Busuttil Nishimura has teamed up with Pidapipo on a limited-edition flavour inspired by one of her favourite new recipes; Bougatsa, a mouthwatering Greek custard pie.

The ‘Bougatsa’ nods to the classic Greek dessert with a zesty, lemony semolina custard gelato coated in caramelised filo pastry flakes and served in a waffle cone for $10.

This exclusive edition to Pidapipo’s menu will be available in all Pidapipo stores from September 16-October 6. And, to sweeten the deal further, Pidapipo’s Fitzroy Laboratorio will also be selling slices of Julia’s Bougatsa dessert topped with a scoop of lemony semolina custard gelato for a limited time from October 2-October 6.

‘Collaborating with Julia on this has been so much fun,’ says Pidapipo founder Lisa Valmorbida.

‘I couldn’t think of a more perfect sweet treat for spring, not to mention to celebrate Julia’s incredible new book.’

To add to the festivities, Pidapipo is hosting a public giveaway with Julia on Wednesday October 2, from 5pm – 7pm at the Fitzroy Laboratorio. Julia and the Pidapipo team will be handing out FREE Bougatsa custard pies, topped with a scoop of their limited edition gelato while supplies last — first come, first served!

‘It’s been such a joy working with Lisa and Pidapipo,’ says Julia. ‘I’ve been making Bougatsa for my family for years as a favourite comfort food, and I can’t wait to share our fresh spin on it with Melbourne for more people to enjoy it.’
