Noosa-based store CLO Studios are shining a spotlight on a new creative, all the way from Tunisia, Africa!

CLO Studio founders – mother-daughter duo Trudy and Chloe Tozer – fell in love with Yasmin Sfar’s brand Tinja at Maison & Objet design fair in 2020, and knew they needed to bring her rustic yet refined designs to Australian shores.

CLO Studios know how the right homewares can help tell a story and make a house a home. It’s for this reason that founders Trudy and Chloe Tozer were drawn to Tunisia maker and designer, Yasmin Sfar’s brand Tinja.

‘We first met Yasmin at Maison & Objet design fair in 2020, crazily enough!’ Chloe says.

‘Tinja’s beautiful and unique pieces have such a cultural influence that we couldn’t resist compiling our favourites into a small, curated assortment to showcase within Australia.’

Yasmin’s hand-crafted vases, lamps and furniture are inspired by her country’s rich past – filled with multicultural influences from its neighbouring countries across the Mediterranean.

Ceramic pieces like the Thibault and Blanche Vases or the Oiseau Plate offer hints of Europe’s elegant sculptures, while the collection’s wooden elements are imbued with warmth.

‘The Alfa Dining Chairs are one of my personal favourites,’ Chloe shares. ‘I love the use of materials, the dark stain giving a rustic feel paired with soft and dreamy boucle fabric.’

Tinja’s rage also features a line-up of textured lamp bases complemented by a woven lamp shade and pendants, made from woven dried vegetable fibres from certain regions of Tunisia.

‘They play such a big part in mood lighting and add a playful element to a space,’ Chloe says of the lamp shades. ‘They look great in refined spaces, inviting a textual and warm element into the home – it’s like they have their own personality.’
