How To Create A Blissful Bathroom Worth Spending Time In

Bathrooms are often seen as a bit of a utilitarian space, where function takes precedence over form.

But many of our favourite homes prove that the bathroom has so much more potential than being just a place for your morning shower — it should be a personalised sanctuary, worthy of a thoughtful design as much as a living room or bedroom.

Below, find some of our favourite pieces from Reece, along with advice for creating a blissful bathroom you’ll enjoy really spending time in.

Add Texture + Interest

Reece marketing lead Alex Devine says bathroom fixtures are not just for functionality — they are an extension of your home decor. By selecting pieces with textural elements and unique details, you can really elevate the space.

Think of your vanity as a hero piece of furniture. For example, the Kado Neue Fluted and ISSY Cloud vanities from Reece were both designed as unique statement pieces.

‘The ISSY Cloud features solid timber dowelling, while the Kado Neue Fluted includes a striking bullnose benchtop and soft, curved edges details you won’t find in standard offerings,’ Alex says.

Opting for something with timber is also great way to avoid a bathroom feeling overtly cold, thanks to the material’s natural warmth. You can even match the wood grain to other pieces you have in your kitchen or dining room to create a cohesive vibe throughout your home.

Layer Your Lighting

The key to creating a comfortable atmosphere in any space always comes back to lighting.

In the bathroom, rather than relying on harsh downlights alone, try to layer at least two lighting sources to help curate an inviting atmosphere.

Reece’s Kado Aspect LED Mirrors offer face-level lighting that you can switch between cool, warm and neutral tones — making getting ready a breeze with perfect lighting no matter what time of day (or night) it is outside.

A wall sconce is also perfect for a bathroom. Opt for something like Robert Gordon’s Ceramic Oyster Wall Sconce in olive, which pairs perfectly alongside the brass tapware of the Mizu Drift Curved Basin Mixer from Reece, for a subtle pop of colour.

Or if you have a white basin, select a more neutral light to go with it. Just make sure everything is on dimmers!

Add Flair With Your Fixtures + Finishings

Tapware is essential in any bathroom, but it can also help add character.

Personalise your space using Reece’s Milli Oria designs, with refined and elegant silhouettes. You can also personalise your bathroom by selecting from a range of coloured finishes — gunmetal is ideal for a modern feel, while brushed bronze adds a rustic edge.

Or opt for a basin like Reece’s Kado Lussi Semi Inset as another finishing touch. Made from a cast solid surface, it offers a stone-like soft touch that gives a more sculptural feel than a traditional ceramic design.

Just like you would treat any other room in your house, even a bathroom should be styled to add depth and personality. Change up your towels in trending colours and pattern, or add a vintage timber stool that can double as a side table whenever you’re enjoying a long soak in the bath.

It’s these little details that will make your bathroom feel more personal and luxurious than ever!
