TDF Talks With Artist David Bromley

Last week we started our 2019 season of evening events at the Mercedes me!

Today, we share the live recording of our TDF Talk with one of Australia’s most well-known artists, David Bromley. From dropping out of high school at age 15, to cultivating his own unique place in the art world, David reflects on his path, divulges current projects – from Castlemaine to China! – and ruminates on the legacy he hopes to leave.

David Bromley is one of Australia’s most well-known artists, and his distinctive paintings are instantly recognisable. He’s a six-time finalist in the Archibald Prize. And amongst his prolific output, he has painted celebrities including Miranda Kerr, Kylie Minogue and Lily Allen, to name a few!

But David really is much more than just an artist.

He has created art and sculptures for a number of restaurants and commercial projects, he’s created entire interior design concepts for hotels and hospitality venues in Singapore and China. He’s created larger-than-life murals and public art projects across Australia, in partnership with brands including Dulux, and Eastland Shopping Centre.

When he’s not painting, or working on these large scale projects, David and his partner Yuge have Bromley&Co, their own gallery and retail offering, with stores in both Windsor,  Daylesford, Ballarat, Brisbane and China! They also operate the most incredible event spaces, decorated in David’s signature eclectic style, in Chapel Street, Prahran and in Daylesford.

This candid conversation was recorded live at Mercedes me last week – and we’re incredibly grateful to David and Yuge for donating 100% of the allocated speaker fee to our recent Mirka for Melbourne campaign! LEGENDS!
