I have long been a fan of Melbourne illustrator Jane Reiseger, whose joyful, childlike illustrations have found many high profile outlets over the past few years - from bedlinen to advertising billboards, to custom wall paintings and even amazing large scale murals brightening up the wards at the Royal Melbourne Children's Hospital! She is such a unique talent, and her work never fails to raise a smile.
Jane's latest project brings her quirky illustrations into everyday homes, with a range of self adhesive removable wallpaper designs, produced in collaboration with The Wall Sticker Company. The range, entitled 'Super Fresh Sunny Walls' (!!) brings together 9 different designs featuring Jane's distinctive hand-drawn fruit characters. It's such a sweet collection, and would make a stylish, cheerful addition to any kids space. Also, whilst it's hard to see from these shots, the scale of these prints and vibrancy of the colour is actually really impressive in person (we have some samples in the office which give a much clearer indication than these pics do - I'll instagram some more snaps later today in an effort to show the scale / pattern in context! They really look amazing!).
'I love things for walls and have been doing wall stickers with The Wall Sticker Company for a few years now' says Jane. 'Then they approached me and asked if I would be interested in creating a range of wallpaper. Instantly I knew this could be a new medium for my little happy fruit drawings'.
I have come up with names for them, as I feel like they have their own personalities' Jane continues... 'for example - Ringo the apple comes from Japan and he likes to travel, Miss and Missy watermelon are quite shy, and Mr. Pear is very jolly!'
Jane's brilliant 'Super Fresh Sunny Walls' range is available online at The Wall Sticker Company, and is priced at for $149.95 per drop (each drop being 130cm wide x 250cm high). It looks like traditional wallpaper, but is actually made from a unique self-adhesive coated fabric, which means it can be applied by anyone - with a little patience!
To complement the wallpaper series, Jane has also released a limited edition of giclee prints featuring 'Miss and Missy Watermelon', 'Ana the Pineapple' and 'Ringo the Apple' from the wallpaper series. They are $90 each, and are available online through Lamington Drive.
Jane is represented commercially by The Jacky Winter Group.
