Melbourne label, Collective Closets, will launch a vibrant new collection of trans-seasonal clothing items in-store and online just in time for the cooler months!

Run by sisters Fatuma and Laurinda Ndenzako (you might remember Fatuma from our adorable Family story with her), the pair make their distinctive patterned pieces from shuka fabric. Traditionally worn by the Maasai people of eastern Africa, the Ndenzako sisters source their shuka fabric from Ruiru, a town just north of Kenya’s capital city. Their partners here have been weaving the signature material since 1979.

Named ‘Wisdom’, the new collection features designs for 18 pieces including blazers, pants, skirts, a turtleneck, trench coat and more. Our fave piece? The bright green checkered suit combo! Fifteen accessories will also be included in the release, and the last drop will include a sneaker collaboration with the brand’s North Melbourne neighbours, Radical Yes.

The collection will also mark the label’s first merino wool products. Proudly made in Melbourne, the wool and the dyes used to colour them are GOTS certified.

‘This season we are dressing the best versions of ourselves: patient, present and always passionate,’ says Laurinda. Consider the TDF office obsessed!

The ‘Wisdom’ collection launches on Saturday, May 1st. Keep an eye on the Collective Closets online store here, or their Instagram here for updates.
