This morning Melburnians woke up to the CBD overrun with experimental floral installations.

As part of Urban Blooms, a spring floral concept created in partnership with the City of Melbourne’s $100 million Melbourne City Recovery Fund, Victorian florists will be taking over iconic Melbourne landmarks to help revive the CBD from November 14 – 27.

Beloved Fitzroy florist Flowers Vasette have installed a spectacular archway at the entrance of Flinders Street Station, assembled with an array of green foliage, accented with flowers in gold, red, pink and lavender tones. ‘This is a wonderful collaboration, particularly after the devastation of bush fires earlier this year and most recently the impact of Covid-19 on our industry’, says Flowers Vasette founder and creative director Cherrie Miriklis. ‘We are overjoyed to be entrusted with the iconic and internationally recognised Flinders Street Station location.’

The plants will be sourced from Victorian growers and from Beechmont Garden Retreat, Flowers Vasette’s own expansive formal and rambling gardens, and will include a wide variety of native and seasonal flowers and foliage demonstrating the capabilities and the beauty of Victoria’s Flora.

There are so many other incredible florists involved in this epic project at sites around the city find a map with all the locations here!
