The annual Tesselaar Tulip Festival is back for it’s 64th year! Held in the crazy beautiful Dandenong Ranges for almost a whole month, the kaleidoscopic sight will sprawl across 25 acres of gardens, featuring an epic display of over 90,000 tulips in 130 different varieties. That’s a WHOLE lotta tulips.

As well as beholding your eyes upon the natural splendour, there will be for activities for kids, activities for grown ups (ie. beer and wine) live entertainment and market stalls every day. The opening weekend (September 15th to 17th) will celebrate the origins of the majestic tulip, with a range of Turkish performers, music, dancing and food (Börek, anyone?!).

Additionally, there will be a range of themed weekends that are sure to keep the whole fam out of trouble – think performances of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ for Over the Rainbow Week (September 18th to 21st), a Food, Wine and Jazz Weekend (September 29th to October 1st), word on the street is that there’ll even be an appearance from Peppa Pig and her brother George?! Get excited, parents!

If you’ve had a bit of a strung-out city week, The Tulip Fesitival is a a great excuse to get out of town for a truly wholesome antidote that’s TOTALLY kid friendly.

The Tulip Festival runs between September 14th to October 15th. Please note the colder than usual start to spring has presently delayed the flowering of the tulips; you can get the most recent updates from the Facebook page. For additional event information and tickets visit the website.
