Though visiting art fairs and exhibitions is something we sorely miss due to the pandemic; one upside has been the incredible offering of online events that have sprung up in their place. Events that were previously inaccessible due to location are suddenly open to a much wider audience – and Tarnanthi Art Fair 2021 is especially impressive!

The completely online art fair from the Art Gallery of South Australia presents the work of First Nations artists from 50 arts centres around Australia. And we’re talking some TDF faves like Hermannsburg Potters, Ikuntji Artists, Bábbarra Women’s Centre and as well as internationally significant centres such as Maningrida Arts + Culture and APY Collective.

The artworks represent culture, knowledge, materials and storytelling from the Top End to the rainforests of FNQ, and from the coast to the Central Desert. All proceeds from sales go directly to artists and art centres.

Ranging from $100 – $15,000, the fair will sell paintings, sculpture, weavings, textiles, ceramics, jewellery and homewares. Been eyeing off a woven object from the Tjanpi Desert Weavers for a while? Or a watercolour in the style of Albert Namatjira from Iltja Ntjarra? Maybe now is the time!

Tarnanthi Art Fair will be held from Friday October 15th to Monday October 18th on the Art Gallery of South Australia website here. Sign us up!
