Holidays are a time to embrace our community…and a time to eat as many treats as possible. Merchant Road Events are combining these two elements in the Cake + Kindness bake sale, in collaboration with Market Lane Coffee and La Marzocco Home. The delicious event will raise funds for Many Hands, a paid training program from Merchant Road that equips young women from refugee backgrounds with hospitality skills to enter the workforce.
After the (delicious) success of their previous bake sales, Cake + Kindness is returning for a Christmas edition, with a line-up of sweet treats from beloved Melbourne bakers and other local legends including All Are Welcome, Cremorne Street Bakers, Q Le Baker, Cobb Lane, Loafer, Sticky Fingers Bakery, Miss Lady Bird Cakes, Red Door Corner Store, Toldeos, Sot by Mork, Austro Bakery, Babajan, Woodfrog Bakery, Mister Nice Guy, Convent Bakery, and blooms from Cecilia Fox.
Take your appetite and your tupperware, as recent graduates of the Many Hands program will be showing off their barista skills with the support of Market Lane volunteers. Market Lane are donating proceeds from all coffee sales on the say, and Tyson Stagg of Market Lane explains ‘Melbourne is known for it hospitality; however, the incredible show of support we have received from a number of our city’s most beloved bakers and creatives truly speaks to our city’s abundance of compassion and generosity.’
Roll up to Nicholson Street nice and early to also choose a posie of flowers from Cecilia Fox. Flowers, coffee, and cake – all for a very important cause! The closest you can get to having your cake and eating it too.
