Each year during Ramadan, Muslims observe a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. Fasting occurs daily between dawn and sunset, and Suhoor (in the morning) and Iftar (in the evening) meals are often eaten with family, friends, and community.

Social enterprise Free To Feed are drawing upon their Muslim community to host their very own Ramadan event, where Muslim and non-Muslim people alike are invited to come together for an evening meal to learn more about the holiest month on the Islamic calendar.

Free To Feed friend Farida will be hosting the event, creating a Bohri Thaal experience that seeks to share knowledge and understanding of the holy tradition. An Indian Bohri Muslim, Farida grew up in Bahrain where she left amid political turmoil. She spent seven years working as a wedding planner in India before coming to Australia in January 2018. Not knowing anyone when her family first arrived, Farida found Free To Feed on Facebook and has been sharing her passion for food with the social enterprise ever since.
