Melbourne’s degustation dessert king Pierre Roelofs will this month be hosting the last of his delicious Dessert Evenings for 2018.

The renowned pastry chef has been running the quarterly events since 2016 (hosted weekly between 2010-2016!) out of different venues, with this current series taking place at Minanoie in Collingwood.

The night starts with one of Pierre’s famous ‘dessert tubes’ (a deconstructed, down-in-one-mouthful twist on a classic like lemon tart or crème brûlée), followed by a three-course plated dessert degustation. As part of the menu, Pierre invites a different creative from any field to collaborate on a very special dish coined ‘Dessert Studies’. In the past artists like Alice Oehr, Maryanne Moodie, Beci Orpin, Julia deVille and architect Andrew Maynard of Austin Maynard architects have provided source material for dessert inspiration. For this round of desserts, Pierre takes influence from friend and neighbour, etching artist Stephanie Rampton, for his sweet set.

‘Dessert Studies is an ongoing project with fellow creatives that help inform the Dessert Evenings menus,’ Pierre explains, ‘The project is all about starting conversations, inspiring creativity and having a bit of fun!’.
