The Creative Forces Raising Funds For Flood Relief + How You Can Help

31st March, 2022

Five local creative businesses doing their bit to raise money for flood relief. Here’s how you can help (and maybe score some beautiful art in the process!).

As NSW is hit for a second time by severe flooding, these local creatives are banding together to raise funds for those affected. Here are five inspiring businesses fundraising for flood relief, and how you can help!

Tigmi Art Series, Clay For Community

From March 31, Tigmi’s latest Art Series exhibition will be presenting a group ceramics show featuring Jan Vogelpoel, Softedge Studio, Lisa Lapointe and Coe Studio

Each of the artists has kindly donated a ceramic piece for Tigmi’s Clay For Community raffle, to support the Flood Relief Fund in community-led flood relief across the Northern Rivers.

Tickets for the raffle are $30 and there are five prizes to be won! All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Flood Relief Fund and winners will be notified on Monday 4 April.

Art For Floods

In an incredible get-together of the creative community, 425 Australian artists have donated works for the online Art For Floods sale

On April 1 and April 2, Aussies will have the opportunity to buy over 500 pieces of art, with all of the proceeds going to three nominated charities; GIVIT, NORPA and Arts Northern Rivers

Head to the Art For Floods website now to browse the available artworks before the sale goes live. Once you’ve decided which artwork – or artworks – you’d like to purchase, visit the Instagram page of the relevant artist on April 1 and 2, and comment ‘SOLD’ on the post. First-in, first-served, so get in there quick!

Prices range from $45 to $4000! Take a look here

HAKE House of Art, Company We Keep

Sydney’s Northern Beaches’ newest art gallery, HAKE House of Art, has just wrapped up its debut exhibition, Company We Keep, which featured 17 artists from across the country.

If you missed the exhibition, fear not, as the works are still available to view and purchase through their online catalogue – and viewings can be made by appointment.

100 per cent of HAKE’s commission from the sales of Company We Keep will go to the Northern Rivers, NSW floods relief. Incredible!

From The Heart

On April 10, the Melbourne music community will be coming together for a From The Heart gig at the Retreat Hotel in Brunswick to raise money for Northern Rivers residents and surrounding First Nations communities devastated by the floods.

Tickets for the gig are $15 at the door, with options for further donations. There is also an epic raffle you can enter (online, or in-person!). The prizes include original artworks by Georgia Spain, a $500 voucher for Nicole Lawrence Studio, a $200 voucher for Melbourne-made cult label Bitter Sports, an 1800 Lasagne date night package – and so many more.

Raffle tickets can be purchased for $45 for 50 entries, $30 for 25 entries or $15 for 10 entries. Winners will be drawn on April 25. See the prizes here!

Clay For The Northern Rivers

Architect and Northern Rivers resident Trudy Gould started fundraising for the Lismore TAFE ceramics community after it was hit by the first round of flooding, which saw its equipment, wheels, kilns, tools and supplies totally destroyed.

She’s since reached her initial target of $20,000. Now, her new target is $25,000.

You can donate directly to her cause here, or, keep an eye out on her Instagram to see the beautiful ceramic auction items come up for sale.

In addition to supporting these incredible creatives (and hopefully scoring some beautiful artwork!), direct donations can be made to Flood Relief Fund, Koori Mail GoFundMe, Floods Recovery 2022 and the Australian Red Cross
