Mud Australia make the kind of porcelain you’ll have in your home forever. Far from the conservative, bone white porcelain of stuffy wedding registries, Mud is contemporary and fun, yet unbelievably practical.

First started in 1994 in the garage of founder Shelley Simpson, over the last 25 years, Mud has maintained much of the same styles, sizes and colours, firmly establishing their product as timeless and trustworthy. Having focused their energies on opening flagship stores in some of the world’s major cities like London, New York and Los Angeles over the last few years, the Sydney-based brand has recently added another local store to their roster.

Mud has teamed up with Pentimento Papeterié to open their latest outpost in the heart of Surry Hills in Sydney. ‘We wanted to emphasise that these are all products to be lived with daily,’ explains James Kirton, Mud’s Executive Director, of the new store collaboration.

As with all the Mud locations in Australia and beyond, Melbourne-based architectural and interior design practice DesignOffice worked on bringing the dedicated paper and porcelain store to life. ‘They bring a great understanding of flow and function and an eye for highlighting the special features that make each store special,’ says James.
