It’s only been just over 12 months since we first officially featured Seljak Brand, and in that time the label has firmly established itself as a leader in the Australian sustainable design industry. Now, there’s a new member of the Seljak family, the Seljak Lune Blanket. Designed to suit cool breezes, this soft, lightweight blanket is woven in Lithuania using yarn spun in Italy from old woollen jumpers and garments. The design of this blanket is inspired by the interconnectedness, vulnerability and power of the Great Barrier Reef, and is a reminder of the fragility of life cycles both within and beyond our control.

Seljak Brand has offset the carbon emissions from shipping the Lune Blanket from Lithuania to Australia, and like all their blankets, it can be remanufactured at the end of its life.

If you’re unfamiliar, Seljak’s original recycled wool blankets are made with factory floor offcuts using a minimum 70% recycled wool and a 30% blend of other fibres and poly for strength. At the end of each blanket’s long life, the brand collects this free of charge using a carbon neutral courier service, returns it to the mill, then shreds and spins it into new yarn for future blankets. 

For every 10 blankets sold, the label donates one to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) in Melbourne.
