This exhibition explores the 2022 Melbourne Design Week theme of ‘Design The World You Want’, which, for Space, meant taking a look at their design collection through the lens of ethical and sustainable practices.
Space has created a fictional apartment with three curated rooms, all of which are designed around the brand’s philosophy to support design that is built on quality, function, beauty and – most importantly – product longevity.
The furniture in the apartment features both new and re-released designs – including some pieces that were designed 50 years ago – and still remain relevant today. Expect to see iconic and timeless designs from B&B Italia, Kartell, Baxter, Acerbis, Giorgetti, Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GMBH, Glas Italia,Foscarini, SP01, Edra, Roll & Hill and Living Divan.
Within the apartment, visitors will also find a series of photographs featuring each room of the apartment imagined in a dreamscape. These whimsical images blur fantasy and reality; picturing the rooms in an endless meadow of flowers, a calming body of water and an iridescent sky at morning, noon and night – talk about dreamy!
