Melbourne-based artist Tom Ripon yesterday unveiled a totally wild collaboration with QV in the streets of the city. Globally-renowned for his neon mesh animal sculptures, Tom is showing his life-sized pieces in City/Safari, his first Melbourne installation in eight years, taking place at QV. In addition to the physical exhibition, Tom’s mesh animals come to life in an accompanying digital gaming experience that take users on a fast-paced scavenger hunt through QV Melbourne’s iconic laneways.

Sydney’s augmented reality experts Vandal have created this epic interactive element, where visitors follow giant animal prints to find five animals, scanning QR codes along the way to enter the virtual jungle. The game offers a host of major prizes every day (like a $500 QV shopping spree!), with $6,000 in prizes to be won. Gotta catch them all!

Throughout his career, Tom Ripon’s lifelike mesh creatures have been commissioned by the NGV, Melbourne Zoo, and Crown Casino. Tom’s works also feature in the collections of prominent creatives such as David Bromley, and currently, appear in the mindblowing stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
