Dinner And Show With Ella Mittas And Blackhearts & Sparrows!

Amelia Barnes
14th October, 2019

Experience a three-course Italian dinner and show in this special event.

It’s been over six months since we featured a series of Ella Mittas of Ela Melbourne’s original recipes, and to be honest, we haven’t stopped dreaming about them since! Lucky for us, Ella has teamed up with Blackhearts & Sparrows to create a special three-course dinner, wine and show event where you can experience her cooking in person!

This event will be held on four separate nights in November and feature a different musical guest on each occasion. Ella describes it as an elevated version of a ‘cheesy, ‘90s Italiana’ restaurant, complete with chequered tablecloths and a band in the corner! ‘It’s quite intimate and it’s got a real community feel to it,’ she says.

On the menu are a series of Italian dishes made with seasonal, flavoursome ingredients. Ella was inspired to create these dishes after her recent residency in Abruzzo, southern Italy, where she was cooking local produce using time-honoured, handmade techniques – typically requiring a whole village’s assistance! ‘It’s simple food from less frequented regions of Italy where they make the most of simple, cheap ingredients,’ Ella says.  ‘It’s a really good opportunity for me to make the most time consuming, special dishes.’ Think chickpea pancakes with braised capsicums and stracciatella, and chicken with tarragon garlic butter served off the spit.

Ella is renowned for producing pop-up style dining events, but this is the first time she has engaged Blackhearts & Sparrows and Patrick Underwood of Little Reddie to develop a curated wine list. On this list will be an exclusive Sauvignon Blanc created especially for this event by Boomtown. Yum!

Tickets to these four events are available to purchase here. All dietary requirements can be catered to.
