Melbourne label, Collective Closets, is launching a vibrant new collection that will brighten up your winter wardrobe!
Now in their seventh year of business, Angolan-Australian sisters Fatuma and Laurinda Ndenzako have made a name for themselves bringing African-inspired fashion to the local market — creating their distinctive patterned pieces from shuka fabric, traditionally worn by the Maasai people of eastern Africa.
Their Evolve collection has been in the works since last year, with the team moving half their production to Kenya, and half here in Melbourne.
‘This season, we have devoted more time than ever to being on the ground in Kenya, working closely with a new team of skilled artisans, and emphasising craftsmanship, artistry, and quality,’ Fatuma says.
The new range is a celebration of their vibrant textiles and classic cuts, filled with magnificent rich tones of purple and red. Chequered patterns are splashed across matching sets, dresses and perfectly tailored pieces for sizes 6-22.
‘Rather than releasing frequent seasonal collections, we have chosen a seasonless, slow-release approach for this collection,’ Fatuma adds. ‘Every few months, we will unveil a handpicked capsule collection of limited-edition Evolve pieces.’
The first drop features a curated selection of 26 items designed to mix and match! But to celebrate the launch, Collective Closets are also hosting a pop-up in Collingwood Yards, giving you the chance to try on these beautiful garments and see the incredible fabrics up close and personal!
Shop the new range online here, or visit their pop-up opening night on June 15 from 6-9pm.
