Does your business profit from nature’s beauty? If your work has anything to do with the built environment, that answer is a definite yes, so it’s time to start safeguarding nature for future generations.

This is the premise of the Business of Biodiversity (BoB) program run by photographer Marnie Hawson, and environmental charity Odonata Foundation, which are both B Corp Certified organisations.

The BoB program is designed to help businesses forge meaningful connections with biodiversity by guiding them through a process of identifying their core values and developing a tangible nature-based project.

Participants learn how working in harmony with nature is not only profitable, but essential for business success.

Marnie explains the premise, ‘My business tagline is “I’m in business to bring back nature,” so I started this program out of a conviction that businesses can be a powerful force for positive environmental impact.

‘While businesses are beginning to measure and understand their carbon footprint, many still view nature as somehow separate from climate action, failing to recognise that biodiversity and carbon are intrinsically linked through the very ecosystems that sustain our planet.

‘Witnessing both the damage but also the resilience of nature, I wanted to create a practical roadmap for businesses to make measurable biodiversity gains.’

BoB participants finish the course with a nature project ready for implementation, and connections with environmental partners and resources to support their initiatives.
