For many Australians with an interest in working with regional communities, it’s important to consider how these collaborations can be carried out in a meaningful way for everyone involved. Regional Arts Australia is here to help navigate the process with a new publication, Collaborating with Regional Communities. The free online resource is a 50+ page document providing tools and guidelines to assist those in regional communities in achieving a more rewarding and productive level of involvement in cultural activities. Such a good idea!

In an effort to bridge cultural differences, this brilliant resource uses case studies with helpful takeaways to highlight how to build positive partnerships and outcomes for both hosts and visitors to regional, remote and rural Australia. Collaborating with Regional Communities encourages us all to take a more considerate approach, promote good practice and understand the ethics of working alongside members of regional and remote communities.

Planning and partnership building for this project has been undertaken over the past six years and has involved many phases of discussion and consultation with artists, Elders, partner organisations, and community arts workers.
