Melbourne label Alpha60 is best known for creating quirky and cool women’s fashion, but now the siblings behind the brand are teaming up with artist Brendan Huntley for an immersive exhibition at Heide Museum of Modern Art.

Alpha60 founders, Alex and Georgie Cleary became friends with Brendan after buying a painting at one of his earliest exhibitions in Melbourne, and have since turned into avid collectors of his eclectic and vibrant works.

It was only a matter of time before the trio collaborated. And after about three years of planning, they’ve revealed a showcase of collaborative rugs and clocks in limited editions.

‘Sense of Direction’ will take over the gallery’s Heide Modern – once the residence of Heide’s founders, John and Sunday Reed – which inspired the trio to create a collection of playful and exaggerated domestic items.

The centrepiece is a 32-metre-long carpet runner, custom-made to traverse the spaces of Heide Modern, spanning both floors and flowing from room to room! It’s filled with bright motifs like faces, celestial beings, clocks, butterflies and eyes.

The installation also features Brendan’s largest painting to date along with recent sculptures, and reflects on how Heide Modern ‘blurs the lines between house and museum’. Plus, the collaborative pieces will be available to purchase on Alpha60’s online site for the duration of the exhibition.

Colour us intrigued and excited!
