24 Of The Sweetest Bedding, Furniture, Storage + Play Pieces For Kids!

When it comes to children’s furniture and homewares, finding the balance between colourful, educational, fun and not eye-wateringly garish can be a challenge.

Luckily, this sector has come a long way (sometimes overwhelmingly so), with many brands considering longevity and functionality, as well as playfulness.

The TDF team had a lot of fun rounding up locally available furniture, storage, bedding and play pieces that will last throughout the years for this story — there’s something about children’s interiors that you just can’t help but smile at!

FURNITURE

As with any space, furniture is an essential building block to a room’s completed aesthetic. Function aside, these pieces are often the biggest elements in a room — and will probably be the biggest investment, budget-wise.

Plyroom is a great option for this very reason, their deceptively simple timber funriture is designed to adapt to changing needs. Plus, the furniture’s warm, neutral colour make it the best backdrop for playful pieces like Bonnie and Neil’s, newly released, Wave Side Table and the sweetly speckled Charlie Chair from The Memo, to really pop!

BEDDING

Bedding choices, perhaps more than anything, can have a huge impact on how a room feels to be in — and the best thing about bedding, is you can swap and change it quite easily as kids grow.

This is where you can really have some fun with colour and pattern, and some of our favourite go-to’s for exactly this are Castle, Bonnie and Neil, Sage and Clare, and Halcyon Nights. All these joyful local brands will take your kid from child to tween to teen.

1. Rattan Hanging Hutch from Olli and Ella. 2. Drew’s Drawers from Fearon. 3. Weston Storage Box from The Memo. 4. The Lowdown in Blush from Mustard Made.

Perhaps the most important element in any room is storage – but it doesn’t have to be boring! Drew’s Drawers from FEARON will quite literally bring a smile to every room (in fact their whole range is fun) , while Mustard Made’s varied and super colourful collection of lockers will have you covered for everything from hanging clothes to storing toys.

For smaller storage needs, it’s hard to go past the neopolitan-coloured (and collapsable) boxes from The Memo, or whimsical baskets from Olli and Ella!
