The Sticks is a newly-built, luxurious property specifically designed to offer every guest (up to 10) a five-star experience in Kangaroo Valley, NSW.

As city professionals who often crave a weekend getaway in the bush, the owners knew exactly what they wanted to include in the property. There needed to be ample entertaining spaces, interiors celebrating the natural surrounds, and generous bedrooms each with their own amenities.

Local architects iarchitecture designed the property to contain all this and more across two wings adjoining central living areas. Multiple living and dining areas provide plenty of space to relax and entertain, with the added benefit of a huge kitchen with a wine fridge, two dishwashers, and dual ovens.

Five-metre high ceilings soar above the space framed almost entirely by glass capturing expansive views of the escarpments beyond. From here, guests can retreat back to their own bedrooms at their leisure, each of which connects to its own private en suite and outdoor deck (a huge luxury when holidaying with a big group!)

Alwill Interiors selected the furnishings and art for the home complementary of the architecture and incredible landscape. Contemporary Aboriginal artworks pay homage to the origins of the area, while inspiring unique colour palettes in each room.

A focal point of the entire property is the hand poured, nine-metre high, concrete chimney with three exposed faces (across indoors and out) including two fireplaces and a barbecue. A large wraparound deck hugs the chimney on the exterior, creating additional space for entertaining on the private site surrounded by native gardens by Wariapendi Nursery

The 25 acre property is accessed by driving through a farm that grazes highland cattle. The remainder is free roam and is abundant with kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, wombats, and parrots.

The Sticks is part of the Supercalla portfolio of boutique holiday home rentals on the NSW South Coast. The property sleeps up to 10 guests and is located about 2.5 hours south of Sydney and 2.5 hours north-east of Canberra.
