The Robin Boyd Foundation is a cultural organisation at the heart of the Australian design community. Their focus is on keeping heritage architecture alive in the public consciousness, through industry talks, guided tours, and design-oriented initiatives. As the custodians of Robin Boyd’s legendary legacy, we love all the work they do in preserving and showcasing the best historically relevant and modernist buildings in the country!
This year, their annual Open House fundraiser will take place online, where physical guided tours of some of Australia’s best residential architecture projects will be replaced with virtual videos, to walk visitors through each space.
Virtual tours through award-winning houses in Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales will be available, so keen architecture observers aren’t confined merely to visiting houses in their own state! Many TDF favourites will be open for viewing, including the Ruckers Hill House by Studio Bright, The Glebe House by Chenchow Little and Good Life by MRTN Architects.
Like many arts and cultural organisations, the Robin Boyd Foundation has lost major streams of revenue due to COVID-19. While registration for Virtual Open House is free, participants are encouraged to make a direct donation upon sign-up.
Video tours will be available for viewing on 8th July to 25th July. Register here to access the platform.
