How To Do 'Country Style' With A Contemporary Edge
Interiors
There is an appeal to ‘Country Style’ homes that is hard to resist. Even the most hardcore minimalists out there will soften at the sight of a well-worn leather armchair, or the patina of an old wooden table top. BUT there’s a fine line between contemporary country style, and the clichéd stereotypes of yesteryear !
Here, Lauren Li shows us how to take a less rustic, and more refined approach to country-inspired interiors.
Great article Lauren ! Agree, some of our standout contemporary Architecture is located in the country. The projects of Sean Godsell or Edition Office are two sustainable Victorian Architecture Studios that spring to mind. When choosing furniture, tan leather, papercord and blackened metal are materials to keep an eye out for. Heritage brands such as Australia’s Mark Tuckey or Thonet are made to go the ‘country mile’. And of course we also appreciate real patina here at Design Consigned, in fact, all our preowned Designs arrive authentically ‘pre-patinated’ to avoid that ‘perfect and precious’ look, as you mentioned.
