Valentines Day Gift Guide 2015

It’s very unfashionable to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  And yet, every year we seem to stage our own defiant mini celebration, with our annual VALENTINE’S DAY GIVEAWAY!

I know, I know… it’s just another over-commercialised, Hallmark conspiracy, but on the flip side, its a great opportunity for us to hunt down the latest and greatest gifts and accessories for both guys and girls, and offer you guys a few awesome things to WIN!  No one complained last year, so here we go again.

As has become a tradition around here, we have spent the past month scouring our favourite local shops and pulled in enough favours from some of our clever designer friends to bring you this epic Valentine’s Day Gift Guide + Giveaway!

This year, have collated a range of ace items for ladies, gents, for the home and for the kitchen, with all kinds of excellent local businesses and designers represented.

One of the best (and gender neutral!) prizes we can imagine is an endless supply of beautiful magazines, so we were very happy to score a $200 voucher from  Magnation for one lucky reader to spend in store (best gift ever!).  A night at Rooftop Cinema in Melbourne is our idea of the perfect city date, so we’ve also included tickets for two to this iconic local nightspot.

In addition to this, for the girls we managed to get our hands on a pair of amazing ‘Gatto’ sunglasses from POMS collaboration with local eyewear brand Pared, a sweet polymer clay vase and earrings from Klein&Schon (who we were raving about last week!), a spot in a ceramics class with amazing Melbourne ceramicists Jessilla Rogers and Valerie Restarick, one of Lucy Folk‘s latest jewellery creations, and the amazing wireless Logitech UE Boom Speaker from Ultimate Ears in white, which sounds even better than it looks, if you can believe it.

The men’s edit includes a few treasures from Incu, a classic Braun Clock Radio from Make Designed Objects in Carlton, a camera case and strap from Crumpler, a Time Teller watch from Nixon and my personal ALL TIME FAVOURITE mens’ fragrance, Comme Des Garcon ‘White’ from Mecca – amongst many other finds.

For the home we were WELL CHUFFED to secure a gorgeous Foscarini Binic Table Lamp White from Space Furniture (we love this little guy, his silhouette gives him an almost-human personality!), a ‘so-shiny-you-can-see-your-face-in-it’ De Buyer Copper Frypan from The Essential Ingredient, as well as a handful of stunning pieces from Top3 by Design and excellent local online store Resident GP.  Smaller online stores I’m Home and Minami both also pitched in, thank you guys, we LOVE your stuff!

Sooo that’s it. You shall hear no more about Valentine’s Day from us until next year. We hope this little spread will inspire an impromptu gift from one of the excellent retailers listed below, or even just a fleeting romantic moment with your favourite person this weekend.  Because whatever you feel about Valentine’s Day, we firmly believe that any chance of celebrating and/or gift gifting between loved one should always be encouraged!
