If you've been following The Design Files for the longest time (since like 2009!) then perhaps you recall our very early posts on Melbourne illustrator, artist and designer Luci Everett. Luci is one seriously talented creative, with a particular skill for combining illutration and delicate mixed media collage in the prettiest possible way. Many, many moons ago she created the most exquisite collection of collages for our guest blog, way back when we had a guest blog (remember this stunning pic - please excuse the dodgy formatting, which is a hangover from our previous layout!).
ANYWAY Luci's amazing work is always on our radar, and we're please to announce she has a stunning exhibition of new work opening this week at Conduit Arts in Fitzroy. Unbelievably, this will be Luci's first solo show, and will include a collection of new mixed media works inspired by her greatest muse - flowers!
'I'm mad keen on flowers – they make me so happy!' says Luci, when asked about the inspiration for this latest body of work. 'I love the potential in using them as a base to play with colour, form, texture. I also love the energy of a spontaneous mark – the freshness of this approach plays very happily with the organic structure of flora. As my first solo show, it made sense to explore a theme so naturally attractive to me and get the petal obsession out of my system!'
The exhibition will feature large pieces (a little under A1 size) priced at around $300. (This pricing seems like complete madness to me for original works!). There'll also be some smaller, even more affordable pieces on offer too. A sell-out seems inevitable...!
