Poppy Lane likes to be busy. Amidst running her own freelance floristry business, and co-running the bustling Pop & Scott workshop in Northcote, she's somehow found time to join forces with friend and fellow florist Sarah Nolan of Mr Lincoln this month to launch a sweet 'Pop-Up Posy Shop' in Melbourne's CBD, just in time for Valentine's Day.
Poppy and Sarah have steered clear of traditional Valentine's Day bouquets for this little retail venture - instead filling their stall with simple, romantic garden-style posies. They're all made with local blooms, bound with bright orange twine, and can be purchased in glass preserving jars or gift wrapped in crisp brown paper. Super simple, super cute!
We asked Poppy how this fab collab came about -
We worked together 11 years ago and have been friends ever since. Recently we collaborated on a big floral event that got us thinking we should partner up again for Valentine's Day. Once the idea was there we got together with the team at Pop & Scott and made it happen within a crazy two week period.
We built almost everything at the Pop & Scott workshop, including the wood paneled wall, the stunning round table, the painted pots, the planter box and the wooden signs. Our beautiful ceramic lights hanging overhead are by Bruce Rowe (available through Make Architecture), and we have gift cards designed by Amy Farrel.
It's not just a fun project for Sarah and me, it's also been a fabulous opportunity to show off some of the talented designers and makers involved in the Pop & Scott co-operative workshop!
