It is very rare these days for me to post about something or someone who is not in Australia... (unless I am not in Australia at the time!). I'm not quite sure why, I just figure Grace and Joy and the clever folks at Grain Edit and Moco Loco etc do such an awesome job of covering everyone else in the world.... I'm usually more than happy just big-upping the talented folks in my own backyard.
BUT today I must admit I'm breaking my own self-imposed rules because UK-based illustrator Kris Atomic is just so freaking AMAZING I couldn't help but share!
Kris's work has gathered a lot of momentum in the last couple of years - and I am sure many of you would have seen her glorious cover for Anthology Magazine in the US. It's been heavily (and deservedly!) blogged all over the place!
Kris graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in the UK with a degree in Illustration just 2 years ago (in 2009). She currently works as a freelance illustrator and photographer. Her photos are also incredibly beautiful and worthy of a post in their own right! Be sure to check out her photographs here, her illustration folio here, and her fantastic blog here! She's also just launched a little online shop selling prints and original paintings...! It is VERY gorgeous and ridiculously affordable.
Kristina is apparently available for commissions, freelance opportunities and afternoon tea. OH if I was in the UK I would so take her up on that.
ps) I have fallen so head-over-heels in love with Kris's work that I recently bought the rights to the very beautiful illustration below, for use on The Design Files 2011 Advertising Ratecard! Aghhh swoon. If I had the money I would totally commission an original illustration every single week for this blog. One day!
