Wine delivery? We’re listening!

Blackhearts & Sparrows was established by siblings Paul and Jessica Ghaie in 2006, with the intention to make high-quality, thoughtfully produced wine, beer and cider more accessible. For those in the market for something a bit funky, fermented or fizzy in the drinks department, this one’s for you!

With seven immaculately designed stores across Melbourne (and one soon to open in Canberra!), the brother-sister duo has now teamed up with The Monthly and The Saturday Paper for the launch of A Wine Service, which is… pretty much exactly that! The subscription-based model delivers specialty wines handpicked for a range of taste buds and budgets by the experts at Blackhearts & Sparrows across the country, along with tasting notes and recipes from top Australian chefs (think dumplings from Andrew McConnell).

‘After over 10 years in Melbourne as a bricks-and-mortar business, this is a really exciting direction for us; we’re championing all of the knowledge and skills we’ve developed – customer service, curation, commitment to quality – on a national scale,’ Paul and Jessica explain of the new endeavour, ‘It’s a chance to show more people how accessible great wine can be.’

As well as being in the business of offering subscribers really good wine, A Wine Service also brings together some profound design talent. Renowned Melbourne design studio, Studio Round, have brought to life the packaging, which features illustrations from Jason Phu, an Archibald finalist and Sulman Prize-winning artist. Great wine and good design – a combo we most CERTAINLY can raise a glass to!
