The new Weekend collection from Jardan encapsulates the joy and feeling of freedom in sharing a weekend in the company of loved ones. It’s comfortable and relaxed, and doesn’t need any bells and whistles. It’s a celebration of the low key, and the low maintenance.
To find inspiration for this latest collection, Jardan looked back to their own 30-history of designing and manufacturing in Melbourne to find a common thread. Reflecting on their design archives and photographs, and speaking to people who have worked in design and manufacturing with them for years, the team sought to find a set of ideas and principles that links each piece.
A simple, timeless collection of seating, surfaces and lighting makes up the Weekend range. Key pieces include the practical and classic Miller sofa that works easily into modular configurations, and the Billie coffee table with elegant detailing and inset rattan top. Three new lighting designs have also been envisioned by a new in-house lighting designer, whilst tables, sofas and chairs all incorporate new materials from travertine stone, textured plain woven fabrics and soft pure aniline leathers.
‘We’re honouring an essential and constant idea that we’ve been working on since the beginning: celebrating Australian family. Celebrating the pieces that become constants in the home for generations – in spite of everything a family throws at it’, says Jardan’s director Nick Garnham.
Weekend by Jardan is now available at Jardan Melbourne, and online.
