The Tarnanthi Art Fair is back, offering a unique opportunity to view and purchase works of art – from paintings to textiles, sculpture to ceramics, jewellery and more, across all budgets – directly from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and their centres.

Held at Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute in Adelaide, this three-day event unites over 40 art centres (10 of which are new this year!). They’ll be presenting art from across the country, including the Tiwi Islands, Arnhem Land, Central and Western Deserts, Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands, The Kimberley and The Pilbara.

Looking beyond the amazing individual artworks for a second, it’s important to highlight this event’s support of an industry that is a key source of income for indigenous communities in Australia. Last year over $810,825 was generated in sales from Tarnanthi Art Fair, with profits going directly to the 500 artists that were represented, their art centres, and the Purple House Foundation – an innovative Indigenous-owned-and-run health service operating out of Alice Springs.

An inspiring bill of performances, talks and tours is set to roll out over the weekend too – don’t miss  Tarnanthi 2018!
