After twelve months of totally online shows, Irina Rybakov of pépite is thrilled to be hosting her first one IRL. And who better to do it with than Morgana Celeste – a local artist hot off the back of two sell-out shows!

Velvet Afternoon is Morgana’s third solo show. Her signature, wobbly style is achieved by mixing paper pulp with fine cement and high quality acrylic paint, a concoction which she then applies to canvas. The resulting body of work is as tactile as it is vibrant.

Forever inspired by the salience of memory, Velvet Afternoon is Morgana’s exploration of her own vivid recollections. With names like ‘Breakfast on Holidays’ and ‘A Dream I Had About Ponies, 1995’, each artwork reflects a point on the spectrum of remembrance: either a totally subjective experience, or a memory that is oddly specific but very universal.

Though part of a collection, each abstract work contains a completely unique palette.

Presales open online tonight and the exhibition will kick off IRL next week!
