TDF Talks With Interior Designer & Educator Jenna Densten

Podcast

Apologies to any of our podcast fans who’ve been waiting for our latest episode! After a short delay, episode 42 is out NOW – a conversation with interior designer, educator, serial renovator, reality TV star and Mum of two, Jenna Densten!

Jenna is perhaps best known for her stint on The Block alongside her husband Josh… but, that was WAY back in 2011, and Jenna has done so much since then! These days, Jenna runs her design consultancy, Bicker Design, along with running Design School, offering accredited courses in Interior Decoration, as well as a brand new Online Masterclass.

Lucy sat down with Jenna last month to chat about life after reality TV, the highs and lows of renovating, juggling business ownership with parenthood, and everything in between.

Jenna Densten has been renovating homes with her now-husband, Josh, since they were both just 18 years old. After appearing on The Block in 2011, though, it was time to get serious – and Jenna left behind a career in hairdressing to pursue interior design.  After returning to study to get qualified, Jenna took a big leap of faith and launched her design studio, Bicker Design.

But, Jenna doesn’t like to do just ONE thing at a time. She’s a serial multitasker, and in 2016, she launched Design School – offering accredited courses in Interior Decoration, with an emphasis on practical skills and hands-on learning. Design School is very much a family business, run by Jenna with her brother, with a LOT of guidance from their Mum, who runs her own training organisation in Jenna’s hometown of Albury Wodonga.

In the past few years, on top of running their two businesses, and having two adorable kids – Josh and Jenna have also designed and built their DREAM home in North Melbourne, with Fooman Architects and Ferne Built.  That’s where we recorded this podcast… and it is SO beautiful! Don’t worry, we’ll be heading back for a photoshoot very soon…

But for now, please enjoy this podcast chat with Jenna Densten!
