‘The Church House’ in Brisbane, belonging to Glen and Gabrielle Williams. Their son Samuel and his dog Billy enjoy the infinity-edge pool perched on the hillside. The cantilevered roof frames the church in the foreground and the Brisbane cityscape beyond. Photo – Cathy Schusler.

Another great capture of that amazing pool with a view! The spectacular outdoor area in the home of Glen and Gabrielle Williams. Photo – Cathy Schusler.

The incredible modernist home of Tim Ross and Michelle Glew-Ross in Sydney. The pool was here when Tim moved in, but the landscaping, paving and pool fence was added by Tim and Michelle after much consideration – in the end they chose to go with a frameless glass fence.  The amazing yellow pool umbrellas were sourced by Michelle online and brought all the way back from LA in their boxes by Tim after taking his comedy show, ‘Man about the House’ to the US last year.  Photo – Eve Wilson, production – Lucy Feagins / The Design Files.

Versailles? Nope, its the magnificent pool of renowned landscape designer Paul Bangay, at his property in rural Victoria.  Photo – Caitlin Mills for The Design Files.

The Barwon Heads home (and pool!) of Julia and Adam Green. ‘the beautiful aqua tiles of the pool make the whole space feel fresh and cool,’ says Julia! Photo – Eve Wilson, production – Lucy Feagins/The Design Files.

Constructed by architect and developer Howard Lawson between 1935 and 1936, the Beverley Hills complex comprises two separate buildings, and as the name suggests, the development has a distinctly international flavour, referencing a 1930’s Hollywood / Spanish revival aesthetic. Occupied at the time of photographing by Ellie King and Cale Sexton.  Photo – Eve Wilson, Production – Lucy Feagins / The Design Files.

Matt Skinner, his wife Carly and their young kids Indi and Ned live in a very special house in Beaumaris. The amazing above-ground plunge pool in the sun-drenched central courtyard was constructed from a concrete water tank!  Photo – Annette O’Brien. Production – Lucy Feagins / The Design Files.

Another angle of the Beverly Hills building pool in South Yarra, with an impressive outdoor pool and lush gardens overflowing with palms, vines and creepers, this is about as close as Melbourne gets to LA, or perhaps even Barcelona, aesthetically speaking. Photo – Eve Wilson, Production – Lucy Feagins / The Design Files.

Owning your own swimming pool is a rare luxury… but that doesn’t stop us dreaming! With temperatures soaring in Melbourne this week, we’re swooning over these picture-perfect pools from the TDF Archives.

First up, possibly one of the most luxurious homes to feature on TDF in recent years, the ‘The Church House’ in Brisbane, belonging to Glen and Gabrielle Williams. Their infinity-edge pool is perched on the hillside, with views of the Brisbane cityscape.

An oldie but a goodie, we’ll aways have a soft spot for the incredible modernist home of Tim Ross and Michelle Glew-Ross in Sydney. The pool was here when Tim moved in, but the landscaping, paving and pool fence was added by Tim and Michelle.  The amazing yellow pool umbrellas were sourced by Michelle online and brought all the way back from LA.

The magnificent pool of renowned landscape designer Paul Bangay, at his property in rural Victoria needs to be seen to be believed. Seriously, we still can’t believe this is in Victoria (as opposed to, I don’t know.. Versailles?!)

The Barwon Heads home (and pool!) of Julia and Adam Green was another hugely popular one when we first ran these photos back in March. Backing onto a perfectly manicured golf course, and with the beach just a short walk away, this is about as close as it gets to living in your own private resort!

Constructed by architect and developer Howard Lawson between 1935 and 1936, the Beverley Hills complex in South Yarra is a development with distinctly international flavour, referencing a 1930’s Hollywood/Spanish revival aesthetic. Occupied at the time of photographing by Ellie King and Cale Sexton, we were bowled over by the incredible shared swimming pool!

Matt Skinner, his wife Carly and their young kids Indi and Ned live in a very special house in Beaumaris. The amazing above-ground plunge pool in the sun-drenched central courtyard was constructed from a concrete water tank – ingenious!

And finally, the sparkling lap pool at the stunning Wreidt Garden in Eaglemont is another beautiful backyard pool worth mentioning. We love its seamless connection to the garden, with carefully considered plantings either side of the pool area.
