OK so you've all seen Lisa Gorman and Dean Angelucci's house. It is outstandingly great. Total dream home material. SO it really should come as no surprise to learn about Gorman's latest project - a stellar homewares collaboration! It really was only a matter of time.
Inspired by the vibrant colours of their Autumn / Winter 2013 collection, Gorman have created a fab new range of cosy 100% mohair throws, in collaboration with one of Melbourne's last remaining wool textile manufacturers (and mohair specialists!) - St Albans. The range comes in varying degrees of fluorescent fluff, as Lisa says - 'it's like a little bit of designer hi-vis for your lounge room'!
We asked the genius Lisa G what inspired this rad collab... here is what she had to say -
They're loud and proud, both in colour and texture, slightly crazier than your standard mo throw. The colours go back with the gorman AW13 collection, so if you lay down on your couch in your gorman knitwear you'll be happily camouflaged.
I've always wanted to make a rug or two, and when I found out I could make them right here in Melbourne I ran out to the factory and was allowed to cause chaos with all the colours on the rug looms, which is great fun I might add.
Poor Vlado, the production manager who has worked there at St Albans for 30 years. He was possibly quietly tortured by the number of times he had to change the weft yarns. But, we got there in the end. Big thanks to Vlado!
Of course, the throws are all made in Melbourne. They're priced at $249.00, and come in five designs - three will be available in store and online this Friday May 10th, whilst the remaining two designs are due to hit stores on May 17th.
Lucky for YOU guys, Gorman have also generously offered one TDF reader the chance to win a pink technicoloured throw (pictured up top). WOWSERS, ace price guys. Thank you Lisa and team Gorman!
To be in the running, simply leave a comment on today’s post before 10.00pm Melbourne time by this Friday (10th May 2013).
Please be patient if WordPress behaves a little slower than usual this morning, as you have a few more days to enter! A winner will be selected at random and contacted by email next Monday.
*UPDATE, the winner has now been drawn and contacted. Comment 530 we hope you enjoy your new Gorman mohair throw!
