The Dulux Colour Forecast 2024 has just been announced, revealing the three palettes to watch out for in the year ahead.

Led by the experts in the Dulux Colour Team — including Colour and Communications Manager Andrea Lucena-Orr, Colour Forecaster and Stylist Bree Leech and Colour Manager Lauren Treloar — the much-anticipated forecast draws on global research and current events to assess what design trends are on the horizon.

And this year’s palettes suggest that warm colours and positive hues will become even more popular, inviting both tonal colours and comforting textures into our homes.

‘This year we see a shift towards the use of multi-hued schemes, but crafted to reflect a balanced interior,’ Bree says. ‘The colours are richer and there are less pastel and bright hues, compared to what we saw last year with a shift towards more sophisticated nostalgic references.’

Take a closer look at the palettes below!

Journey

The Dulux Journey palette is described ‘maximalist and pattern-heavy’, with eclectic and arty styling.

It brings together rich mid-tone hues, with yellow greens, such as Dulux Xena and Dulux Bean Counter, and blues like Dulux Swedish Blue and Dulux Clouded Sky. Decadent reds and plums are used to create a luxurious contrast.

The shades are styled alongside ‘time worn rugs’, handmade textile cushions, wicker chairs, woven vessels, and vintage furniture — another growing trend that’s tipped to continue. ‘At its core, Journey celebrates the art of storytelling,’ Andrea adds.

Muse

Heavily influenced by the nostalgia of retro design, the Dulux Muse palette showcases a modern take on the ‘free-spirited styles’ of the past — as younger generations continue to embrace these eras in fashion and interiors.

Walls are painted in solid blocks of bold colour, with 70s-inspired tans and russet browns featuring heavily (think Dulux Guitar and Dulux Tuscan Sunset) paired against cooler greens such as Dulux Surf Green. Clean mid-blue accents include Dulux Passionate Blue and Dulux Decoration Blue, reminiscent of the bold trends of the 80s.

The look is complete with geometric and curvy furniture, glossy finishes, and luxurious stone features.

Solstice

Whether you’ve been recently on an overseas holiday or are still dreaming of one, the Solstice palette predicts we’ll be drawing on international destinations for some home inspiration this year.

The selection of shades brings a taste of the Mediterranean, layering summery yellows like Dulux Ripe Lemon and lighter blues of Dulux Ocean Surf against a backdrop of ‘sun-soaked’ neutrals. ‘Toasty’ clay brown shades with red undertones also feature, creating a ‘warm and welcoming palette’ of nurturing hues designed to make you feel very ‘at home’, Andrea says.

Design details in this trend incorporate Grecian motifs and raw materials like concrete, terrazzo, terracotta, clay and lava stone for extra intrigue!
