Meet The Business Creating Fully Customisable Furniture Right Here In Melbourne

Shopping

Finding good furniture (that’s not too generic, but not too expensive) is a hard task. It was this very relatable dilemma that pushed Hannah Goldberg to start Zenn Design, offering clients and designers alike fully customisable furniture, upholstery and window furnishings that are proudly made right here in Melbourne.

All their bespoke pieces are hand-crafted, sustainable, and high-quality in collaboration with brands like Warwick and Abode Living. In other words, they’re ticking all the boxes!

We love hearing about local creatives who’ve seen a gap in the market, and rather than waiting for a solution to come to them, they create one themselves.

Zenn Design founder and creative director Hannah Goldberg grew up working in the soft furnishing and textile industries, and noticed an increasing demand made for high-quality and sustainable bespoke furniture in recent years.

The local upholstery and design firm now expertly fills that need, giving people the chance to customise everything from sofas to custom bedheads, ottomans, benches, and window furnishings. It’s a way to personalise your home from top to bottom, being able to specify fabrics, size, colour and any details from their range of customisable designs. With the help of their in-house furniture designers, frame makers and upholstering teams and high-end fabrics suppliers like Mokum Textiles, South Pacific Fabrics and Warwick, Zenn Design can turn a clients’ ‘vision’ into reality in just six to nine weeks.

Their designs are classic yet contemporary, with Hannah saying the Krystal Fully Upholstered Bed and Arch Bench Stool Collection are the standouts. ‘Everyone seems to be loving curves and minimal designs,’ she adds. But one of the best parts is it’s all made ethically, right here in Melbourne.

‘I have always appreciated and valued Australian manufacturing,’ Hannah adds. ‘Manufacturing locally allows us to have reliable lead times, be involved in every step of the way and ensures we can carry through our meticulous standards of product innovation and customer service delivery.’

Zenn Design has grown rapidly since Hannah started it as ‘a hobby’ in March 2020. And they just opened their first showroom in Caulfield South, designed by Cassandra Walker Design!

‘The new showroom and design studio has been a labour of love!’ Hannah says. It’s set to be the place where you can shop Zenn Design’s collaborations with local brands such as Abode Living, Christopher Blank and Sealy, in addition to exclusive in-store only pieces – including an unreleased upholstered bed, which Hannah has tipped to be their next bestseller!

Shop Zenn Design via their website, or make an appointment to visit their Melbourne showroom at 650 Glenhuntly Road, Caulfield South.
