This Fitzroy North terrace house has been a stylish family home for vendors Justin Bodanac, Anna Beaton and their two daughters, Birdie and Rumi, since 2014.
Anna’s mother noticed the home was for sale while on a stroll through the area, and knew the young family would love it. Sure enough, Justin and Anna snapped up the Victorian workers’ cottage shortly after – in large part due to its ‘perfect’ location in the heart of Melbourne’s inner north.
‘After living in the house un-renovated for two to three years, we then engaged Anon Studio and Freadman White to complete an extensive renovation on the back part of the house, adding light and maximising the small space available,’ Justin says.
While the two-bedroom pad has retained its classic period facade, it’s been totally transformed inside to offer a sophisticated kitchen, living and dining area. Soaring ceilings make way for the open-plan space, where sleek black joinery is paired with Caesarstone benches and polished concrete – complete with underfloor heating below.
One of Justin and Anna’s favourite spaces, though, is the luxe terrazzo-tiled bathroom with its leafy garden outlook – a calm retreat that the couple say they’ll definitely miss when it’s time to say goodbye!
After almost eight years here, the family are ready for their next adventure. ‘We are looking for a new space for the next stage of our lives,’ Anna explains.
‘We have absolutely loved living in this house’ Anna continues. ‘The thoughtful design has provided surprises through windows, lighting and materials which has made it a beautiful home to live and entertain in’.
