‘I have taken the same approach I take when I build an outfit: start with my base colour, then match colours that either complement or contrast.’

The home of Maxine Wylde is a perfect reflection of her personal style: colourful, fashionable, and full of statement pieces!

The content creator and influencer is renowned for this distinct aesthetic, as shown on her Instagram and TikTok, where over 500,000 combined followers delight in her excitable energy and vibrant style.

Maxine recently purchased this new apartment as a first home buyer, and has quickly transformed it into a colourful sanctuary. ‘I was really scared at the thought of moving out of home, but I thought it was the perfect time to inhabit my own space and create an environment that was just for me,’ she says. ‘I am a chaotic and creative person, and often love to have everything I’m working on laid out in front of me, so having my own private space to work has been amazing!’

Maxine has made no structural renovations to the apartment, but her personal style is clearly on show in the maximalist styling here, characterised by bold curving lines, plush seating, and coloured glass pieces. Her favourite items are the Chair Boi table designed based on a sketch she drew; the collection of artworks hung by Framing To A T; and the multi-coloured Pieces rug. ‘The Pieces rug in my wardrobe is one of the first pieces I bought for the space and it honestly makes me so happy every time I look at it!’ she enthuses!

Naturally, Maxine’s love of fashion and colour has informed every aspect of her home interiors. ‘I have taken the same approach I take when I build an outfit: start with my base colour, then match colours that either complement or contrast,’ she explains. Other influences include mid-century modernism and vintage Italian furniture, which add to the overall eclectic and playful aesthetic.

Maxine also credits her distinctive style to her background studying interior design. ‘I think my love for interiors and general interest over the years has inspired me to look into custom furnishings, when I probably wouldn’t have thought to do that had I not had that interior background. I’m so glad I did, because I love my custom pieces so much!’

Maxine’s wardrobe is arguably its own feature of the interiors, where her many statement pieces sit proudly on display. For moments when a little more ‘zen’ is required, this space can be concealed via recently installed curtains.

Whilst compact in size, this joyful, vibrant home punches well above its weight when it comes to personality. And, true to Maxine’s personal aesthetic, it’s the perfect mix of high-low styling, striking a careful balance between relatable likeability, and seriously glam credentials.

Cute, colourful and brilliantly confident – this is Maxine’s world, we’re all just living in it!
