This Ritzy Mid-Century Palace In Caulfield North Is On The Market

Mid-Century Modern

There is a block in the Melbourne suburb of Caulfield North dubbed the ‘Golden Mile’. It is bordered by neighbouring Balaclava, Glen Eira, Kooyong and Orrong roads, and contains some of the finest examples of the state’s mid-century modernist architecture.

Designed by Holgar + Holgar in 1966, this newly for-sale home is up there. This palatial abode is fit for a queen – specifically, a modernist-architecture appreciating royal to save it from potential demolition!

You could not charge this stately home in Caulfield North with delusions of grandeur. It is, in every sense of the word, magnificent.

And it announces itself so upon first glance! Walking up the bluestone-paved path, the distinctive facade of this two-storey residence is full of character, presenting the same ornate finishes and detailing contained within its walls.

Inside, the olive-carpeted hall makes way for a striking timber staircase, which remains in original condition. Residents are guided up these spiral steps to the main living quarters, which are located upstairs to take full advantage of the floor-to-ceiling street-facing windows. This level is decked out with the full modernist treatment including original timber wall cladding and custom Dario Zoureff cabinetry.

Downstairs contains five bedrooms, including a main bedroom with dressing room and marble ensuite. The opulent finishes continue outside, where the second living room opens out onto a terrazzo marble patio overlooking the garden.

Designed by renowned modernist firm Holgar + Holgar in 1966, the five-bedroom Ajzner House is an extraordinary piece of Melbourne’s modernist history!

2 Kiers Court Caulfield North is in mint condition and up for sale now. You can see the listing here.
