Marco Comito is a residential construction specialist and the owner-designer-builder of this generous family home in Heidelberg Heights. He, his wife Cara and their young family have occupied the block for the last eleven years, which they bought just prior to having their first child.
Seven years into ownership, the pair transformed the previously run-down dwelling, subdivided the block and sold the existing home. They then built their dream family home on the remaining site: a light-filled, spacious new build which takes advantage of its leafy green locale. Designed by the architecture firm Marco co-directs, ELC Architecture + Interiors, and built by its adjacent building firm ELC Construction, Marco oversaw every element of the project from beginning to end. He sought to create as much connections to the outdoors as possible – from the beautiful northern outlook, which brings day-long natural light into the living space, to views of the stately on-site trees. Cara and Marco could even watch from the living room as the children climbed them!
The layout of the breezy, functional home sees four bedrooms located on the second storey linked by a central open stair void. The ground floor layout is open-plan, connecting the kitchen, dining and living area seamlessly to the landscaped garden via a deck, which overlooks the large established trees and sunken fire pit in the yard. Among the standout features are the quality finishes including French oak floorboards and custom joinery throughout.
This comfortable family home in an up-and-coming neighbourhood is perfect for a brand new family looking for somewhere to lay down their roots!
