Today we’re signing off We, The Brave, our video series, created in partnership with Broadsheet and MYOB! Over the past few weeks, this series has celebrated the stories of inspiring self-made entrepreneurs, each bravely forging their own creative paths in business.
Kitty Clark founded her art gallery, Saint Cloche, four years ago, after a decade travelling the globe as a fashion buyer for Gucci. Despite having built a hugely successful career in fashion, nothing could prepare her for launching her own gallery. After taking the brave leap to launch her business, suddenly, she was on her own and faced stiff competition to build a reputation amongst Sydney’s many established galleries.
Saint Cloche’s point of difference has been an unwavering commitment to emerging and early career artists. Kitty champions artists from a variety of backgrounds, and has an uncanny knack for uncovering the ‘next big thing’.
Building a sense of community around her gallery has also been key in the success of Saint Cloche. Situated on a prominent corner in Paddington, Saint Cloche’s doors are always open, and the gallery is a friendly and accessible space for everyone in the local neighbourhood.
This year, for the first time, Saint Cloche will exhibit at Australia’s most prominent art fair, Sydney Contemporary. It’s another big leap for the business, and a huge milestone for Kitty, who will exhibit the work of young artist Evi O, in her first showcase at the internationally renowned art fair.
Balancing astute business acumen, with laser-sharp focus on her goals, we’ve no doubt Kitty will continue to take Saint Cloche from strength to strength!
