A Golden New Range From Capra Designs

It is no secret that indoor plants are having their time in the (indirect, but ambient) sun! Accordingly, as greenery continues to brighten our homes, designers are responding with innovative vessels and watering solutions.

We chat with Bianca Lambert of Capra Designs about extending their previous ‘Back To Nature’ collection, and pursing a new business model that is about evolution rather than seasonal trends. Designing for growth!

The new range of Capra Designs products is informed by a shift in process, co-founder Bianca Lambert explains. After years of success with their hand-poured resin vases and vessels, the Melbourne based brand decided it was time to change their design cycle. Bianca describes ‘I wanted our products to be something that people keep forever, and I realised that by putting out completely new ranges twice a year, I was indicating that the previous range was “out of fashion.”’

This new approach encourages an ever-green model, where each collection is an ‘evolution of the one before.’ The new range, ‘Golden’, builds upon the previous ‘Back To Nature’ collection. Inspired by ‘the sun bouncing off desert sand’, the Golden collection captures the sparkle of the previous line, and builds on its glowing success!

Bianca recongises the increasing trend for plants in homes, and highlights that while ‘there are many health benefits, I don’t think that’s what makes people go out and buy them!’ Instead, she suggests that what is driving the boom in ‘plant stores as home wares stores’ is people recognising that ‘they offer a feeling of serenity and comfort that helps you relax.’ The Golden range encourages a connection with the outdoors – particularly in winter, when that golden hour sun and dappled light feels a long way away.

For Bianca, the months ahead are busy! Keep your ears out for a new collaboration with Plant Society, and the introduction of some newer larger planters. As the indoor plant trend keeps growing – so must the vessels to house them!
